From this low angle port side shot, the full might of the carrier may be seen... Shadow just foward of the carrier is an F4 Phantom streaking aloft.

Phantom (red X) climbs off the bow while steam from the catapult lays low along the deck. Second Phantom is awaiting its turn on the starboard catapult, while other Phantoms and a Hawkeye (props already spinning) await their turn. Meanwhile, aft an Alpha strike of Skyraiders, engines racing, heads for the starboard side catapult. Other Skyraiders, wings folded, sit further aft while Intruders spot the remainder of the deck with the rest of the Phantoms. A second Hawkeye, with folded wings, squats in front of the carrier's island. 30 aircraft in all.
